Meir and his grandson Nimrod at Bat-Galim, Haifa
The late attorney Meir Hepler, who passed away surprisingly when he was only 60 years old (in 2010), loved the flea market in Haifa and used to spend time there and get to know the merchants there well. Meir's office, on Independence Road in the lower city of Haifa, is still packed with various collectibles. Among them are cameras, printers, books, Judaica items and menorahs. This Hanukkah is placed at the entrance to the office right under the wonderful portrait that the artist Shahar Sivan made in memory of Meir. Meir, born in Haifa (1950), grew up in the Remez neighborhood in Haifa, served in the paratroopers as a soldier and officer, and was even wounded in the Yom Kippur War at the Battle of Seraphoum. The history of Israel and his love for the people of Israel were an inseparable part of his unique character.
